What Roof Restoration Actually Gets You
The honest list, including which claims in this industry we think get stretched.
The benefits that hold up
- A fraction of replacement cost. A tear-off is a five-figure decision for most Utah homeowners. If the roof has life left, that gap is the entire point.
- Done in a day. No tear-off, no dumpster in the driveway, no crew back for a week.
- Flexibility comes back. Utah's canyon winds do not rip healthy shingles off roofs, they find the stiff ones. A flexible shingle lies back down and reseals.
- Slower granule loss. Granules are the UV shield for the asphalt underneath. Keeping them is keeping the roof.
- Minor repairs included. Shingle replacement, crack sealing and leak fixes happen before any treatment goes on.
- Ideal for roofs 1 to 25 years old and compatible with most asphalt shingle roofs.
- 6 to 15 year warranty in writing, term set by the product.
The claims we will not stretch
You will see "adds up to 15 years of roof life" all over this industry. It is a fair statement of what a well-kept roof can gain, and we have used it ourselves. Treat it as an expectation rather than a promise.
Where the number comes from. The warranty is written per product: depending on which treatment your roof gets, the term runs from 6 to 15 years. Before you sign with anyone, us included, ask which product is going on and what its warranty actually covers.
"Works on any roof" is the other one. It does not. Cracked-through shingles, bare patches and soft decking all mean replacement, and we will say so at the inspection.
What it is not
- It is not paint and it does not recolor a roof.
- It is not a coating sitting on top. A coating can peel and trap moisture. This absorbs into the shingle.
- It is not a substitute for a replacement on a roof that is genuinely finished.

Before you decide
Is my roof too old to restore?
Age is a guide, not the answer. The treatment is aimed at asphalt shingle roofs roughly 1 to 25 years old, and the sweet spot is a roof that has gone dry but has not started failing.
Condition beats the calendar. We have walked 10-year-old roofs that were too far gone because of a bad install, and 22-year-old roofs that took the treatment beautifully. That is what the free inspection is for.
Is roof restoration covered by a warranty?
Yes. Our work carries a written warranty of 6 to 15 years, depending on which product your roof gets. The badge on the van says 6 because that is the floor, not the ceiling. Ask for the exact term on your treatment when we quote it, and get it in writing from anyone else you talk to.

Will it change the color of my roof?
A treated roof usually goes back to looking darker and more even, closer to how it looked when it was newer. That is the oil returning to the shingle, not paint.
It is not a coating and it does not recolor a roof. If someone offers to spray your shingles a new color, that is a different product with different consequences.
Is the treatment safe for my plants, pets and gutters?
It is a plant-based product, not a solvent or a coating. Paul chose it partly because he spends his time outdoors and did not want to spray something he would not want running off his own roof.
We still cover and rinse what needs it. If you have a garden bed, a dog run or a rain barrel under a downspout, tell us at the inspection and we will plan around it.
