How Long Does a Roof Restoration Take?

Technician applying roof restoration treatment across a Utah shingle roof, seen from above

One day. That is the answer for most single-family homes, and plenty are finished in half a day. There is no tear-off, so almost all of the mess and nearly all of the time that comes with a roof replacement simply is not part of this.

The day, start to finish

  1. Walk and protect. We cover plants, cars and anything that needs it. If you have a garden bed or a dog run under a downspout, tell us at the inspection and we plan around it.
  2. Repairs first. Any lifted, torn or missing shingles get dealt with before anything is applied. Flashing gets put right. This is the part that varies most.
  3. Clear the surface. Debris out of the valleys, gutters checked. A treatment applied over a layer of grit is a waste of product.
  4. Apply the treatment. Even coverage across every slope. Steep and complex roofs take longer per square foot than simple gables.
  5. Photos and walkthrough. You get the after set to sit alongside the before set.

What adds time

  • Repairs. A handful of shingles is an hour. Finding rotted decking changes the job entirely and we stop and talk to you.
  • Pitch and complexity. A cut-up two-story with six valleys and three dormers is a different job from a single-story ranch, even at the same square footage. A Roy rambler and a Draper two-story are not the same day.
  • Weather. We do not apply in rain and we do not apply onto a wet roof. In Utah that mostly means spring rescheduling.
  • Access. Steep lots, tight side yards and low-hanging power lines all slow setup down.

What does not add time

Roof size, mostly. Doubling the square footage does not double the day, because setup and repairs are a big share of the work. Two similar-sized homes can differ by hours based on pitch alone.

When we will not start

If the inspection turns up cracked-through shingles, bare patches, or a soft deck, we do not treat the roof at all. There is no version of this where we take a payment for a treatment that will not hold. You get the photos and an honest recommendation, and we go home.
